U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan befriend local animals as a way to help cope with the emotional hardships they endure every day while deployed in a war zone. As you will see from many of the pictures I upload, my dad befriended numerous local dogs while serving in Panama.
And I’m certain he would have been thankful his entire life if he had been able to bring even one of them home.
Both the Operation Baghdad Pups and Nowzad programs provide veterinary care and coordinate complicated logistics and transportation requirements in order to reunite these beloved pets with their service men and women. These important animals not only help our heroes in the war zone, but they also help them readjust to life back home after combat. Donate directly to Operation Baghdad Pups or Nowzad Dogs.

To identify the place and/or objects in many of the posted pictures. There are numerous pictures of boats, buildings, and places that have no written notations on them. I’d like to be able to put a “caption” on those pictures and I believe there will be people visiting this site who have the knowledge to assist me with this goal.
